Forgive the delay in getting these pictures up, but we had a situation with our camera. It’s a new toy and not sure why it was set on RAW, which means my photos were huge and after two calls with Canon I finally got them down to decent jpegs that can be posted. Rant over.
Now let’s chat about our trip! You know that we headed to the Dominican Republic a few weeks ago for some much needed R&R. We decided to spend one week in Las Terrenas, in the northeastern coast of Samana. It’s the most charming fishermen’s town with the most breathtaking beaches. Personally, I love this part of the country because it’s not overly developed (no all-inclusive 300+ bedrooms hotels). Everything is small and quaint. Lot’s of Bed & Breakfasts right on the beach, small mom & pop stores and restaurants, and dare I say the best seafood ever. It’s all catch of the day, so beyond fresh. Heaven.
For this trip we rented the most adorable beach front apartment in Cosón via HomeAway. Cosón is one of the many beaches in Las Terrenas, about 10 minutes away by car from town. The private gated complex is called Cosón Bay and I can’t say enough about how much we loved it. Our goal was to do nothing: sit on the beach, eat and drink. On repeat. And that’s exactly what this place offered. We felt like we were right at home because of the great attention we got from Bella, the apartments caretaker, who prepared us the most delicious breakfasts on a daily basis. The apartments are mostly owned by city locals who retreat there on the weekends. Post breakfast we spent the entire day on the beach. There are a few restaurants nearby, right on the beach that we would walk to for local Dominican and also French fare. During the week it was super quiet and we literally had beach to ourselves.
If you’re looking to disconnect and have an uber relaxing time on a gorgeous beach, definitely explore this part of the Dominican Republic. Here’s the link to the apartment we rented. So adorable! All of these pics were taken on the apartment complex grounds.
Now let’s talk about my vacay style. You will notice that I mostly wore shorts while I was away. It was so hot and the only way to go. As you know, I don’t like to splurge on expensive items for summer. I hit Forever21 and Zara right before vacay and I remixed some of my old summer staples. Kept it simple and light, lot’s of loose shorts, off the shoulder tops and embroidered pieces. Stay tuned for more vacay style in future posts.
Forgive the quality of these photos. Taken by my amateur photographer husband who truly tried his best. Love you honey!
