What.A.Week! I’m thrilled to share with you that I have accepted a new job with Maybelline Worldwide, as their AVP of Global Social and Content Strategy— I know! My head is still spinning because this all unraveled so quickly. But it’s ok because now I get to marry my experience in social media and content with a brand that I have admired for a long time. Three days into the job and it feels like a great fit. Many have asked, what about the blog? It’s not going anywhere. Fabulatina has been my creative outlet and in three short years has provided unimaginable experiences and allowed me to collaborate on projects I never thought possible. I’m committed to continue delivering inspiring style and beauty content, albeit, perhaps, without the same frequency as in the past.
I actually never imagined returning to corporate life. At the end of 2015 I started to think about my next move. The blog was always meant to absorb 50% of my time and as much as I wanted to dedicate all of my time to the blog at one point, I realized something very quickly: I thrive in a team environment. To that end, I knew things would eventually fall into place and God would put the right opportunity in my path.
And that’s exactly what happened, I just didn’t expect it to happen so quickly! After several meetings I got the offer and I admit it wasn’t an easy decision. I spent sleepless nights going over the pros and cons in my head (Jesus take the wheel!), lots of pillow talk with my husband and in the end I knew in my heart this job fell into my lap for a reason; I had zero to lose. So I jumped in with an open heart and here were are!
As I mentioned, it’s only been three days, but so far so good. I feel like I’m back with my other family (I spent 13 years working for L’Oreal Paris, their sister brand). The Maybelline team has given me a warm welcome and I already feel like I’ve been there way longer.
So here’s what I’ve learned from this experience. My type-A personality was challenged and taught me that great things can happen, even if they’re unplanned. And that sometimes you just have to put what you want out there in the universe and that it will respond. It’s been a great 2016 so far and I’m certain that bigger things lie ahead.
Oh yes, my 40th birthday is quickly approaching. Whaaaaaaaaaat! And I’m in the middle of planning my partayyy. More on that in a future post.
