So many of you ask me about my daily routine and what the behind the scenes of a blogger lifestyle is like. It’s a great question and I guess for me, there is not one black and white answer. I feel incredibly blessed to do what I love and my daily routine as a blogger has changed over time. For a while I was working as a consultant a few days per week as well as keeping up with the blog and partnerships, which really began to take its toll on me. Recently I made the decision to solely focus on Fabulatina, you know, be my own #girlboss and it has turned my world around on every front. Being able to manage my own schedule is such a blessing and allows me time to truly take care of myself so that I can give the best of me to my work and those around me. Here’s a quick list of the things that I believe are setting me up for success mentally and spiritually.
Diet: I live in NYC and this past winter hit us hard, which meant a lot of lazy days on the sofa and making unhealthy meal choices. I made a decision to change that a few months ago: I stopped eating meat (beef, chicken, pork, etc..) and began an 80% plant based diet 20% animal (eggs, fish, cheese), and I’ve never felt better. I have so much energy, have shed a few pounds, feel leaner and just great all around. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Those mixed berry muffins below are my favorite for breakfast- all plant based, vegan deliciousness.
Water: One thing I profusely thank my parents for is that they made me drink water with meals when I was growing up. Water is the most delicious drink around and now that I’m eating healthier, water has become even more essential to my day to day. I make sure I have half of my body weight in ounces every day and always start my day with 16 ounces of water with lemon before I eat anything. I’m never without my bottle of water!
Exercising: Nothing clears my mind and gets me amped up for the day than getting some cardio in or taking a barre class. I try to work out anywhere from 3-4 times per week. I really should be doing more, but I’m getting there!
Yoga: I’m impatient by nature and yoga is the one thing that calms me down. I recently tried Kundalini yoga, which is such a beautiful and spiritual journey. I just need to work on sitting still. Work in progress. I also love Yivamukti yoga– this practicesaved me during one of my darkest times.
See A Friendly Face: I’m such people person and not being in an office environment is one of the hardest things I’ve had to adjust to. I always make sure I make time to meet a friend or blogger buddy during the week for a bite or coffee; it truly makes a world of difference.
I always say that regardless of your lifestyle, it’s important to make time to do at least one thing that truly fulfills you and set you up for a good day. Life is too short, make every day count!
