Happy Monday beautiful people!! So the SAG’s were on Saturday (sorry to those who missed it because they thought they were on Sunday) and I have to say that it’s definitely my favorite of all of the awards shows. Hollywood royalty shows up to claim their acting and fashion accolades. Most ladies really wowed us this weekend. Others, not so much. Let’s start with my leading ladies:
My absolute favorite of the night was Lupita Nyong’o. This custom Gucci gown is everything. The color, the fit, that gorgeous mini floral embroidered detail, that FACE, that skin—- I mean, this woman is simply perfect. And her speech–oh! A winner. As soon as I saw her I tweeted that a beauty company needs to sign her immediately. Like, now.
This retro glamorous look on Amy Adams was just what she needed after that dress she wore to the Golden Globes. Talk about making a statement in this Antonio Berardi bold, cobalt blue dress with cut outs around the sleeve and chest. Love the slit and the train– marvelous!
Only Cate Blanchett can pull this dress off. This woman always looks exquisite and this Givenchy powder pink frock with sequins was made for her. She can do no wrong in my eyes.
Somebody said that Sandra Bullock’s dress looked like Christmas wrapping paper and that thought could’ve swayed my opinion, but it didn’t. I love this Lanvin emerald green dress on her. I appreciate that it’s high shine, love the bow and that slit– so sexy. And can we talk about the fact that this woman DOES NOT age. Holy Lord of great genes!
It was nice to see Michelle Dockery in a provocative plunging neckline dress. I really like the black and white J. Mendel gown with the red pouty lips, all very glam. I do think she needed a bit of a lift around her cleavage area, but she looked stunning.
I have to admit that I felt a bit underwhelmed when I saw Jennifer Lawrence in this Dior gown. Let’s be clear– the sparkly sequins dress is stunning and it fits her to perfection. My bar for her is so high that I always want my jaw to be on the floor every time I see her, which is unfair. Therefore, she has to be on my best dressed list.
Sofia Vergara looked like a silver siren in this Donna Karan gown— everything from the old Hollywood glam waves, the perfect makeup, to the statement necklace made her a show stopper on that red carpet.
And now my WORST dressed list. I know I’m probably going to get a lot of slack for this because she never disappoints but Kerry Washington and this Prada ensemble did nothing for me. I get that it’s a risk but it just doesn’t work. All I kept thinking was: poor baby is feeling very suffocated with that tight, thick waist band. Nothing sexy about that crop top. Sorry but no bueno.
What was Amanda Peet wearing? It’s a mish mosh of badness. Everything is wrong including her hair. Someone needs to fix those bangs.
This dress Julie Bowen chose was not terrible, I just think it’s wrong for the occasion, not formal enough. One of my least favorites.
Where do I begin? The worst of the night for me, by far! I don’t know where Mariah Carey thought she was going but this look is just awful for the SAG awards. Where is the rest of her dress? And those fingerless leather gloves? Did she drive a bike to the red carpet? So wrong on so many levels. Eeeek!
